Laura Maria Calderon Cuevas is a multidisciplinary Teaching Artist, Performer, and Internationalist with a strong background in creative music composition, dance, singing, and human rights activism. Laura is a Music-Centered Workshop Senior Leader and Project Manager in Greece at Musicians For Human Rights. She holds a Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratization and has been working in the sector of culture since the start of her professional career, in cities such as London, Venice, Paris, and New York City. She designs artistic experiences that allow people to feel, think, create and imagine and thus enable them to express their emotions and narratives using different community music tools.She has also worked at the UN Headquarters United Nations in NYC, on issues concerning social and economic development and human rights.
Percussionist and Director of Afro-Brazilian Percussion Batucada. Started over 15 years, her practice in the study of the rich rhythmic tradition born out of the fusion of samba and reggae from Salvador, Brazil, and others. At the present, directs batucadas in the cities of Edessa, Thessaloniki, and Alexandria.
